OUR STORY

Saltgrass Architects is a small architecture practice focused on thoughtful design, strong collaboration, and creating places that feel personal to the people who use them.

As the son of a contractor, founder Allen grew up around construction and has spent much of his life on job sites. That hands-on experience shaped a practical understanding of how buildings come together and continues to influence the way we work today—creating thoughtful, buildable designs and clear, detailed drawings that contractors can rely on.

Before founding Saltgrass Architects, Allen spent ten years in Chicago working across residential, commercial, multifamily, civic, higher education, and healthcare projects. Those experiences reinforced the value of a strong project team and open communication between the owner, architect, and contractor.

Our process is collaborative and visual. We use sketches, 3D renderings, and virtual walkthroughs to help clients understand their projects, explore ideas, and see their spaces come to life throughout the design process. We also enjoy working closely with clients on the materials, finishes, and details that give each project its own character.
